National Hamburger Festival This Weekend

I had no idea that we have a national hamburger festival taking place this weekend down in Akron. I love hamburgers! Too bad we’ll be moving this weekend and I probably won’t get to make it down there. Guess I’ll just have to make a stop at Red Robin for dinner instead!

Anyhow, I found out because the PR folks from Vlasic (the pickle people) contacted me regarding their loudest crunch contest, here are the details:

WHAT’S A HAMBURGER WITHOUT PICKLES?

VLASIC HOSTS “CRUNCH-OFF” COMPETITION AT NATIONAL HAMBURGER FESTIVAL

Crunch-Off and Win Big on July 18th and 19th from 12-5 at Lock 3 Park in Akron, OH

WHAT: The VLASIC STORK will be hosting “pickle crunch-off” contests throughout the day on Saturday, July 18th and Sunday, July 19th, looking for pickle lovers who pack the loudest crunch! Festival-goers will satisfy their craving for crunch at the Vlasic booth by competing to see who has the LOUDEST crunch. THE MICROPHONE DOESN’T LIE! PLUS, at the top of every hour (starting at 1:00 p.m.) three contestants will “crunch off” on the main stage, culminating in one grand finale crunch-off for the title of Crunch Master. No one walks away empty-handed and winners walk away with a special prize from the Vlasic Stork. For more information on Vlasic, log onto http://www.vlasic.com.

$3 Off AST Dew Tour Next Weekend in Cleveland

Cleveland AST Dew Tour Discount

Cleveland AST Dew Tour Discount

I just received the above discount via email from the Agora Theater and Ballroom.  It’s for $3 off an adult admission to the AST Dew Tour taking place at Cleveland’s North Coast Harbor July 18-20, 2008. Take the kids to see BMX, freestyle motocross (FMX) and skateboarding, and I’m sure there will be lots of other fun for both the kiddies and teens alike!    Plus, you receive a free ticket for Thursday’s events with any ticket purchase.

From the AST website:

Boredom doesn’t exist on Dew Tour – between pro athlete sightings and signings, jaw-dropping competition, a live concert on Friday night at the Verizon Wireless stage and the HUGE outdoor Festival, the only challenge is deciding what’s next on the agenda!

It’s a great location, right next to the Rock Hall and Great Lakes Science Center, and right on Lake Erie.    And you could be the cool parent, who comes up with the idea to take the family to something different!

Enjoy!

Until next time,

Festivals in Cleveland

If the handpainted snake on my neighbor kid’s arm is any indication, the Clifton Art and Musicfest did turn out to be a family-friendly event after all.   We didn’t make it out there, but our neighbors seemed to have had a good time.

There are a ton of festivals in and around Cleveland, Ohio throughout the year, with a majority concentrated between Memorial Day and Labor Day weekends, pretty much what we call the summer months here.  This coming weekend is a busy one, with the Cleveland Wine Festival, Boston Mills ArtFest, Ohio Scottish Games, German-American Cultural Festival and  Lorain International Festival.

A great free event to take the kids the following weekend, on July 5th, will be the Cleveland Dragon Boat Festival down in the Flats along the Cuyahoga River.   I know our son would love to see the boats, unfortunately, I am in a wedding that day and won’t be able to make it there.   The festival promotes Cleveland’s Asian community, and the boats look like they’d be a lot of fun to watch floating down the river.

If you attend any of these, please leave a comment sharing your experiences.

Until next time,

Lorelei
