Lake Erie Nature and Science Center

Yesterday my brood and I took a drive out to the Lake Erie Nature and Science Center in Bay Village.   I’d never been there before so we decided to meet some friends there.   It’s a cute little place and a nice way to spend an hour looking at the various animals.   We got to see several snakes, snapping turtles, fish, turkey vultures, owls and a bald eagle.  Had we gone on a day when the planetarium was open we’d have stayed longer.  But, we planned ahead and brought tons of snacks and drove the extra 1/2 mile or so up the road to Huntington Beach Park and had ourselves a picnic.    Something to keep in mind for future reference, there is also a Mitchell’s ice cream stand that sells hotdogs and other food that would be fun for a little picnic lunch.   Something also to consider, the boys loved playing in the water and sand with the sand toys I keep stowed in my car.    I didn’t have swim trunks for them unfortunately, so next time I’ll have to pack some, and a towel.

It was a great little morning/early afternoon excursion and wore the kids out in time for their naps.   And the kiddo learned that there is actually a real beach, with sand, in Ohio.

Until next time,

Lorelei

  1. We love the LENSC! So much for kids of all ages to do. Great programs. And we love the planetarium!

    • We can’t wait to go back and check out the planetarium. I even think our 15 month-old toddler will love it since they have programs for all ages.

  2. Thanks for the shout-out, Lorelei! Glad you enjoyed your visit.

For planning your return trip with a star show in mind, our public planetarium schedule is here: http://www.lensc.org/planetarium/Public-Shows.aspx
