Healthy Food Fight Recipe Contest at RIPE Food and Garden Festival

I received a message about this contest and request to post it on my blog.    Looks pretty neat, and it also informed me of a neat event coming up in Cleveland.   So here is info on both:

Healthy Food Fight Contest – Deadline for Entries is September 8, 2010

The contest occurs in multiple locations, but one of the locations is at the RIPE! Food and Garden Festival in Cleveland. We are looking for any cooks out there to submit healthy food recipes online; the deadline is September 8th. The top 48 healthiest recipes will move on to the competition. The celebrity guests throughout the contest will be Bobby Flay, Sunny Anderson, Sara Moulton, and Cat Cora. Please check out this website for more information, www.healthyfoodfight.com

And I was excited to hear about the RIPE! Food & Garden Festival, as I think that it is so neat that we live nearby so many local growers!

RIPE! Food & Garden Festival
Cleveland Botanical Garden
Friday, September 24 -through Sunday, September 26, 2010

RIPE! Food & Garden Festival is an exciting, new event whose time has come. RIPE! celebrates the edible gardening revolution and our region’s thriving commitment to local food. At the time when nature’s bounty is at its peak, this joyous festival offers you one-stop access to our most prominent local food purveyors and proponents, along with the farmers and gardeners who are bringing fresh food to our own backyards. We will show you what, when and how to grow and eat, and how you and your families can enjoy yourselves enormously in the process.

The Garden’s beautiful grounds provide the inspired setting for a community-wide celebration of the fall garden, delightful harvest-inspired foods, and the people who create and relish them.

RIPE! visitors can expect a leisurely fall day full of fun, delicious food, and inspiring gardening ideas. Amidst 20 outdoor gardens, you will interact with the region’s wide array of local experts, including area farmers, farm to fork champions, restaurants specializing in local food, slow food practitioners, gastronomists and green gardeners. Your will bring home fresh ideas for your garden, your kitchen, and your healthy lifestyle — as well as recipes, tips and locally prepared foods from the minds, stoves and drawing boards of our area’s most exciting food and garden trendsetters.

If you go, please leave a comment here, as I’d love to hear about your experience.

Until next time,

Lorelei
