This Weekend’s Excursion

So, since the hubby will be working this weekend, I am looking to plan a morning outing for me and the son. Maybe I’ll invite my sister to bring her grandkids along, it should be fun. The problem is, I am torn between two events that my kid is sure to love:

Meet the Trucks at Lakewood Park on Saturday, June 7, 2008 from 10:00 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at Lakewood Park, 14532 Lake Avenue. The event is supposed to have a dump truck, fire truck, ambulance, police car, police motorcycle, SWAT vehicles, ice resurfacer, NASA Bus, Coast Guard “Big Rig” and more plus crafts, face painting, a D.J., bounce houses, a balloon artist, etc.

The other event is the North Coast Boating and Fishing Fest at North Coast Harbor downtown. The event takes place on Saturday and Sunday, though Saturday is probably the only day we’d be able to go. The event has free boat rides and activities for the kids. If my sister was going to join us and bring the grandkids I’d probably lean towards this event, since the kids live about an hour south of here and don’t get to see Lake Erie much, so they are typically amazed by the large body of water.

Both events are free. My deciding factors will probably be the weather and parking. It’s supposed to be pretty hot, finally, so it might be nice to just drive down the street to Lakewood and hang out with the trucks for as long as we can take the heat. Plus, our son has really wanted to sit in a dump truck ever since we let him watch videos of one on YouTube.

I’m sure I’ll post about whatever I decide.

Until next time,
